After finishing an international tour, the "Firework" vocalist is back at it with the drop of a new single, "Watch It Burn," which was released on music platforms this Thursday, June 25th.
It marks one of her first song releases in quite a while, and the potential of a new 'era' of her career, given she's been making headlines for everything from her new relationships to some serious allegations made against her. In addition to the single, which seems to be referencing the end of a long-term relationship, Katy also put out a music video on YouTube, with a sort of action-horror movie theme to it.
In the "Watch It Burn" video, the mom-of-one portrays a scorpion-human hybrid that destroys and burns down certain scenes from her past. For the fictional creature she plays, Katy wore a dramatic black pantsuit with high shoulder pads and nothing underneath her blazer, giving it a sultry, plunging effect. From behind her, a large, black scorpion tail pokes out, and her long black hair is worn down and slicked back to look like it's wet. You can see Katy's new music video here.

The pop star is known for her ballads and songs about love and relationships, and this new single is no exception, as fans and other internet users have already begun analyzing some of the lyrics and posting their thoughts on the internet.
In some of the verses and the chorus, there are lines that tell the story of a woman trying to move on from a long-term relationship that fell apart, which many people automatically presume is a reference to her relationship with her latest ex, Orlando Bloom. The pair were together for nearly ten years, being engaged for a while and having a daughter together, Daisy, who is now five years old.
Additionally, in the music video, Katy's scorpion character burns down magazine stands, with covers that have Orlando-lookalike models on them, which caused internet users to go wild.
"In one of the magazines displayed in the music video for 'Watch It Burn,' the model is named Jensen Turner, a subtle reference to one of the most well-known characters played by her ex-partner, Orlando Bloom," a fan posted on X.
"One of the magazines Katy burns in Watch It Burn references an Orlando Bloom cover," added another, putting the music video and one of Orlando's old covers side by side.
"He's over," responded a user, as another added, "I knew I saw something there!"
