The Kelly Clarkson Show is one of the most popular talk shows out there, and it’s no doubt because of the talented host. However, the past month has been plagued with rumors that Clarkson wants out of her show, finding it “grueling,” according to an insider.

The good news, though, is that even if Kelly leaves The Kelly Clarkson Show, that won’t be her last television endeavor. NBC just announced that the singer will be the host of a new primetime series, Songs & Stories, which has bene officially green-lit for four episodes. Keep reading for more information.

Kelly Clarkson To Host A New Talk Show

Set to premiere in August 2025, Songs & Stories is a series of four episodes, with each featuring different popular musicians: Teddy Swims, Lizzo, the Jonas Brothers, and Glorida Estefan. You might recognize the name if you're an avid watcher of The Kelly Clarkson Show, because Kelly has done "Songs & Stories" themed episodes before.

Each episode will see Clarkson engaging with the musicians and giving them a space to tell their stories and perform—hopefully with Clarkson performing alongside them. NBC describes the series as: "a front-row pass for Kelly Clarkson to engage with some of her favorite celebrities and examine both their music and personal lives. The specials are a forum where iconic voices meet heartfelt storytelling through unfiltered conversation and sung in an intimate, unplugged setting."

Kelly Clarkson Is 'Done' With 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'

Despite the ongoing success of the show, it's been reported that the first American Idol winner wants to quit her hosting duties and leave New York City, where  the show has been filmed since 2023, because she finds it extremely exhausting.

"The show is grueling," an insider told Page Six. "It's a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South," they added, before going on to say that she wants to spend more time with her children, 10-year-old daughter River Rose and 8-year-old son Remington Alexander, both of whom she shares with ex Brandon Blackstock.

"Kelly's number one priority is her children, and they always will be," added the source. Yet The Kelly Clarkson Show was just renewed for a seventh season, which is supposed to take her through the end of 2026, so it's unclear whether or not Kelly will finish out the season.
