King Charles may not have invited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to spend Christmas at Sandringham with the royal family last month, but that doesn’t mean their reconciliation efforts are off the table.
Au contraire, the King is reportedly very eager to reconnect with his estranged son and daughter-in-law – and especially with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
It 'Pains' King Charles That Prince Archie And Princess Lilibet Aren't 'Part Of His Everyday Life'
According to reports, King Charles has been encouraging the Spare author to take a firmer stance with the former Suits actress when it comes to bringing their children to the U.K., as he feels they have been absent from his life for far too long!
"This is something that affects him far more than he shows. These are his grandchildren, his own family, and he genuinely wants to spend time with them while he still can," an insider shared with RadarOnline.
Another source echoed this, noting the emotional toll the distance has taken on the monarch. They said: "Charles is aware he can't wait indefinitely to build a connection. He takes pride in William and Kate's children, but it pains him that Archie and Lilibet aren't part of his everyday life."

King Charles Feels The Estrangement Has 'Dragged On Too Long'
While the King reportedly understands why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain hesitant to return to the U.K. as a family – with security concerns playing a major role – insiders say he still believes a solution is possible...
"Charles recognizes that Meghan has her reasons for hesitating to bring the children to the U.K. and he isn't dismissive, but he also believes his estrangement from his grandkids has dragged on too long," another insider told RadarOnline.
The source went on to suggest the King feels time is slipping away, adding: "If Meghan truly wanted a family reunion, it would have happened by now. Charles isn't in constant contact with Harry, but they do keep in touch, and he has been urging Harry to be more assertive and encourage Meghan to make it possible."
Another source reportedly said that despite the yearslong feud, he has never stopped loving his youngest son, and now wants to make things right. "At this point in his life, Charles simply wants peace and some normalcy with his family," they claimed. "His love for Harry has never wavered, no matter how tense their relationship has been."
