Fans React To Luke Bryan’s ‘Beautiful’ Performance Of ‘Jesus ‘Bout My Kids’ On ‘American Idol’: ‘This Wrecked Me’

While American Idol is certainly all about the contestants, sometimes, fans are treated to episodes that showcase the reasons why the judges are the judges, when they invite them on stage to sing themselves. American Idol airs on Sunday evenings, so it wasn’t surprising that the Easter Sunday episode had undertones of the Catholic faith. Luke Bryan treated fans to a stripped down performance of his song, “Jesus ‘Bout My Kids,” from his 2024 album Mind of a Country Boy. While he sang, photos of kids kids flashed on the screen behind him in a touching video.

Some of the lyrics hit particularly close to home for many that celebrate Easter, like the lines: “I used to talk to my kids about Jesus / Pray they’d find Him sooner than I did / I used to talk to my kids about Jesus / Now I talk to Jesus ’bout my kids.”
