While chicken tenders are a super popular and beloved food across the country, McDonald’s latest rendition of the crispy fried treat is not going over well with their customers.

Last month, the infamous fast food chain released their McCrispy Strips, their latest version of chicken tenders, which they have not sold in years. Despite being well known for their uber-popular Chicken McNuggets, these new chicken strips aren’t hitting the spot for numerous fast food customers, who have taken to social media platforms like Reddit to complain about them. McDonald's Releases Their New McCrispy Strips In May 2025

On April 24th, the legendary fast-food brand announced they'd be releasing a new permanent menu item, their McCrispy Strips, their latest take on chicken tenders in years. In an official press release, reps for the brand wrote that they were listening to customers who were asking for "more chicken," particularly a "juicy, dippable" product.

"We're raising the chicken game to a new level with McCrispy Strips: irresistibly crave-able chicken strips made with juicy, 100% white meat, coated with crispy golden-brown breading and bursting with a bold, new black pepper flavor," detailed the official statement.

"McCrispy Strips also come with a perfect pairing – Creamy Chili Dip, a savory, sweet, and tangy sauce that unlocks the full Strips experience."

The release of the McCrispy Strips was a big deal for several reasons, one of them being that it was their first time announcing a new permanent menu item in 2021. It was also the first chicken tender or strip product they'd put out since their Chicken Selects and Buttermilk Crispy Tenders, which were both discontinued years ago.

If anything, chicken strips have only gotten more popular over the years due to their versatility and addicting crunch, so it's no wonder McDonald's decided to get back on the bandwagon with their latest chicken creation. However, the new strips don't seem to be going over as well as the other recipes did.

McDonald's Customers Say The New McCrispy Strips Are 'Awful' On Reddit

The new chicken strips and their tangy dipping sauces have been out nationwide since May 5th, and McDonald's customers are gradually sharing their reviews. Surprisingly, many of the reviews are not positive, and fans of the brand have been expressing their disappointment in the highly anticipated product.

On Reddit, numerous McDonald's customers weighed in on how they felt about the McCrispy Strips, writing about how they don't hold a candle to past menu items.

"They taste awful," wrote a Reddit user. "I don't know how they fumbled this bad, but these will be gone quick."

"They are genuinely substantially worse than store-bought frozen tenders heated up in an air fryer," added another.

A four-piece McCrispy Strips meal that includes french fries and a drink is being sold for $10.19 at McDonald's, which also made customers angry, as they're selling chicken tenders they don't enjoy as much for a high price.

"At basically $2 a tender, this is just an embarrassment," contributed a user.

"I tried them; they are awful," commented another. "I was so grossed out, I threw it all away."

The McCrispy Strips remind people of the fast food brand's former product, the Chicken Selects, which were chicken tenders sold there between 2002 and 2013.

"Realistically, why can't we get this back," wrote a Reddit user referring to the discontinued Chicken Selects.

"Just give the people what they want."

We will have to wait and see what the future holds for the controversial McCrispy strips, but for now, they're holding a permanent spot on the McDonald's menu, which is a good thing for those who are enjoying them.
