McDonald's Customer Shares A Picture Of Their 'Weirdly Small' McChicken Sandwich
If there's one thing many fast food customers can agree on, it's that many famous chains aren't hitting as well as they used to. There have been issues with increased prices and hikes due to economic circumstances like inflation and tariffs, and dips in quality with certain menu items. It seems that several different chains are trying to push new specialty items, while the quality, taste, and size of some of their staples and classic foods diminish.
McDonald's is one of today's most popular fast food restaurants, but it's also one that has been accused of 'shrinkflation,' the notion that food size goes down as prices go up. Many customers have been taking to the internet to share pictures and posts on their experiences at McDonald's, noting that the food isn't meeting their satisfaction these days.
A more recent post came from a customer who complained about their McChicken sandwich. The classic chicken sandwich, which simply contains a fried chicken patty, shredded lettuce, and a mayo spread on a bun, has been around for years and has always been a cheap and accessible menu item. However, this customer was very disappointed when they saw the size of their sandwich.
"I noticed how weirdly small it felt in comparison to the last time I got one, but figured maybe it was just an off sandwich," wrote the user. "So I opened the second one and lo and behold, it was the same little size, fitting in the palm of my hand. I know McChickens have never been big, but this is definitely smaller than they were for the past however many years I've ordered them."
McDonald's Customers Complain About The Size And Quality Of Their Food On Reddit
Once the post was up, it quickly went viral in Reddit's popular 'shrinkflation' thread, where people have been complaining about the famous Golden Arches and how their food is not as good as it used to be. In addition to that, many are fed up with the price hikes as well, noting that the affordability aspect of a trip to McDonald's is no longer there, making it harder for some people to get a good meal.
"They are so much worse now than they were even a few years ago," complained a Reddit user. "Think store-brand, cheap, minced chicken patties with bad breading. That is the quality they are now."
One customer wrote that McDonald's "used to a special cheap treat" for them while they were growing up.
"It's not affordable anymore," they added.
"Any smaller, and it would be a slider," commented a customer.
Several other McDonald's customers, who are now considered former customers, began noting that they've either cut down on their trips to the restaurant or have stopped completely, given the dip in food quality.
"I refuse to buy McDonald's anymore," commented one. "It's sad to say, but I hope they go out of business because of corporate greed."
"It really sucks," wrote another.
While there are still plenty of people dedicated to the classic fast food joint, it's safe to say they've definitely been getting a lot of heat from customers lately, and we'll be curious to see if anything changes.
