McDonald's Releases McCrispy Strips In April
Many McDonald's customers were very excited when, in April, the infamous fast food establishment announced they'd come out with their latest rendition of chicken tenders, the McCrispy strips. It isn't the first time they've put out this product, as in the past, they had the Chicken Selects in the early 2000s and the Buttermilk Crispy Tenders in the late 2010s.
After a five-year break, the establishment announced its product in an official statement, citing that they were listening to customers who had been asking for "more chicken."
"We're raising the chicken game to a new level with McCrispy Strips: irresistibly craveable chicken strips made with juicy, 100% white meat, coated with crispy golden-brown breading and bursting with a bold, new black pepper flavor," continued the restaurant's representatives.
"McCrispy Strips also come with a perfect pairing – Creamy Chili Dip, a savory, sweet, and tangy sauce that unlocks the full Strips experience."
McDonald's Customers Say The McCrispy Strips Are 'Horrible'
Once the McCrispy Strips were released, many customers and longtime fans of McDonald's were excited, as chicken tenders and strips seem to be more popular than ever right now, and many believe they could be the protein base for the return of their infamous Snack Wraps, which are supposed to be re-released nationwide this summer. However, not everyone is enjoying the strips, and some have even gone as far as to write about how disappointing they are online. Social media platforms like Reddit have been buzzing with reviews, and one post sparked a heated conversation.
"I tried the new McCrispy Strips and was disappointed," wrote the poster.
"I loved the Chicken Selects back in the day. These are NOT those."
The initial review caused many other Reddit users to comment on how they shared similar sentiments.
"[They're] rubbery," commented a Reddit user. "[The] meat has a weird bounce, chew, and was not tender."
One user compared the McCrispy Strips to "gas station chicken strips that have been sitting under the warmer for an hour," as another said they "taste like oversized Dino nuggets."
"They are horrible," continued the user.
We'll be curious to see if the restaurant ends up changing the recipe for their strips or decides to go with a different product for the highly anticipated Snack Wrap, but for now, customers are not "lovin' it."
