Melania Trump embraced the theme perfectly, turning heads in a green dress as she welcomed Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, to the White House dinner this week on November 18th.

The First Lady paid homage to the Middle Eastern nation’s green flag in an emerald green strapless gown by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. The dress featured ruching down the center and a thigh-high slit, which she paired with black pumps and diamond earrings that echoed the white script on Saudi Arabia’s flag.

Donald Trump Defends Saudi Crown Prince Over Jamal Khashoggi Murder

During the meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), President Trump hailed the prince as a “true partner” and a “very good friend,” while firmly defending him amid questions about human rights and the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

When a reporter asked MBS about Khashoggi’s killing—which U.S. intelligence has concluded the Crown Prince approved—Trump interrupted, insisting the prince “knew nothing about it” and had done a “phenomenal job.”

This directly contradicted a 2021 U.S. intelligence report stating MBS had authorized the operation to “capture or kill” Khashoggi. Trump also chastised the reporter, saying, “You don’t have to embarrass our guest by asking a question like that,” labeling her a “terrible reporter” and dismissing her employer, ABC News, as “fake news.”
