Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have sparked divorce rumors for quite a while now, with the former First Lady’s absence at important events such as President Donald Trump‘s inauguration and former President Jimmy Carter‘s funeral only adding to the speculation.
The Becoming author, 61, has shut down the rumors on a few occasions over the past few months, including on Sophia Bush‘s podcast and by continuously wearing her wedding ring, but they seem to have done nothing to dispel the rumors. Will her latest interviews do it?
Michelle Obama's Latest Attempts To Shut Down Divorce Rumors
Michelle Obama's latest attempts to shut down the rumors that she and her husband are going their separate ways most recently came when she spoke to Steven Bartlett on the May 1st episode of his The Diary of a CEO podcast, which also featured her big brother Craig Robinson.
The Princeton University and Harvard Law School graduate once again defended her decision to skip the event, and seemed to suggest that skipping Trump's inauguration back in January had nothing to do with the rumored marriage problems.
She said: "You know, as a box-checking person who has been checking her whole life, doing the right thing, trying to always be an example, always going high… I think I just told myself, 'I think I've done enough of that,' and if I haven't, then I never will." She added: "It'll never be enough. So let me start now."

Michelle Obama Says It Took 'Everything In Her Power' To Not Do The 'Right' Thing
The mom-of-two also defended her decision to skip the inauguration – something which the world is seemingly very obsessed with finding out the real reason for! – on the April 23rd episode of her IMO podcast, which she hosts with Robinson.
"People couldn't believe that I was saying no for any other reason. They had to assume that my marriage was falling apart," the former FLOTUS said, adding: "It took everything in my power to not do the thing that was perceived as right, but do the thing that was right for me. That was a hard thing for me to do."

As we mentioned earlier, Michelle also shut the divorce rumors down on Sophia Bush's Work In Progress podcast and spoke about how women's decisions are often misinterpreted.
She said at the time: "That's the thing that we as women struggle with – disappointing people. So much so, that people – they couldn't even fathom that I was making a choice for myself — that they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing."
Michelle Obama On 'The Art Of Saying No'
Going back to her April 23rd IMO episode, Michelle also confessed to guest Taraji P. Henson that her decision to skip Trump's inauguration helped her begin to practice the "art of saying no," which is something she feels is important for "the young women out there" to learn, despite it going against what previous generations have tried to teach.
She said: "After all that I've done in this world, if I still have to show people that I love my country, that I'm doing the right thing, that I am… going high all the time, all I'm doing is keeping that crazy bar that our mothers and grandmothers set for us." She added that being able to say "no" is especially important "in the face of a lot of hypocrisy and contradiction."
