Michelle Obama Opens Up About Parenting In New Podcast Episode

The 61-year-old has been a lot more open with her fans and followers since she and Barack departed from the White House in 2017, primarily through her podcast, IMO, which she co-hosts with her brother, Craig Robinson. In one of the latest episodes of the viral show, the mom of two spoke about parenting and her views on the best ways to have a healthy relationship with your children.

Michelle has previously talked about her two daughters, Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24, but decided to speak with her brother, social psychologist and best-selling author Jonathan Haidt, about the dangers of social media and seeking "instant gratification" with kids in general.

She talked about how she felt many parents these days need to practice more tough love with their kids in a viral clip from the June 25th episode.

"We've got to get tougher; we've got to get more resilient for our kids," she said.

"I know time and time again, that a lot of parents do what's easy for them and not necessarily what's best for the kid. The intent is there, the love is there, but I think we've gotten really confused, that we're kind of hooked on instant gratification."

Then, the mom-of-two, Craig, and Jonathan spoke a bit more about the importance of telling kids' no,' but doing it to hold them accountable, as well as raising children in a digital age.

Fans Praise Michelle Obama's 'Relatable' Parenting Advice

Once a clip of Michelle talking about getting "tougher" for her children was posted to social media, she was praised for her wise words. Although she received a bit of backlash from some of her older comments on her podcast about being "so glad" that she didn't have a son and only had two daughters, she seemingly redeemed herself online with her compassionate yet no-nonsense parenting values.

On Instagram, people wrote about how her thoughts were "relatable dialogue" and appreciated how she was being "authentic" with her special guests.

"I loved this podcast," commented a fan.

"Beautiful podcast, thank you for sharing," added another.

"This woman's intelligence is off the charts!" commented an enthusiastic fan. "My goodness, she would make a great POTUS."

Fans are seemingly loving watching Michelle open up more about her experiences as a mother, and talking to professionals about the future of parenting. We'll be curious to see if she shares more of her mother-related "wisdom" in the future.
