If you’re a film and television lover, there’s a very good chance you have a Netflix account and love using it to keep up with what’s trending in the entertainment industry.

Netflix remains one of the world’s most beloved streaming services, no matter how expensive the subscriptions might get. With its original material and updated catalogue, there are a lot of people who not only want to use their Netflix subscriptions often, but also keep them secure. Therefore, it’s important to be diligent about what you do to protect your account, as having your password for it compromised is not good. Read more about two mistakes you could be making with your Netflix account that could put your login at risk below.

1. Using The Same Password Frequently

One of the biggest mistakes in the tech world in general is using the same password for all different kinds of websites. When creating a Netflix account, if you use the same password as your email account, your social media profiles, and more, you might think you're making things easier for yourself. However, you're actually putting your information and account at risk.

"There's a predictable pattern in [those] passwords, which, unfortunately, doesn't provide a significant advantage over unique passwords," cybersecurity pro Vahid Behzadan told HuffPost. "Patterns, such as numbers at the end of the password or predictable sequences of characters, can be easily discovered through automated means. An attacker that is in the business of stealing credentials already has the tools that automatically check for those patterns."

2. Not Keeping Track Of Who & Which Device Has Your Login

Many streaming platforms are doing everything they can to prevent too many people from using one login and are cracking down on how many people can be on the same profile at once. In fact, Netflix was the leader in this movement, making it so that people had to be in the same 'household.' However, there are still 'travelling' features that can allow people in different locations with different devices use a Netflix account. That's why it's essential to keep track of where you're logged in, and what devices have access to your account, like friends in their houses, hotel televisions, and more.

In order to see which devices are using your account, you can go to your Netflix account, enter your account settings, click on the 'Security & Privacy' section, and select 'Manage Access.' From there, if you see a device you don't recognize or no longer want using your login, you can sign out from there.
