Why You Should Never Order Iced Coffee At McDonald’s

November 8, 2017 by Emily Belfiore

McDonald's has become everyone's go-to place for all things fast food, dessert and breakfast. Now, people are even choosing Mickey D's over major coffee chains to get their morning cup of joe. Though we're happy to see that McDonald's is dominating the coffee game, we're not thrilled to hear that employees are saying that the McCafe machines are never cleaned properly...

Yup, you read that right. A Mickey D's employee has come forward claiming that their branch rarely cleans its McCafe machines, which is where its popular coffee beverages are brewed from, including its iced coffee and iced lattes.

"I work for McDonald’s and make sure everyone that matters to me never orders anything that comes out of the McCafe machine, as these are routinely neglected in practically all the McDonalds," an employee said, according to Huffington Post. "All McCafe beverages run through a horrifically dirty machine -- we’re talking 5+ inches of uncleaned, liquid making up its inside parts."

This is insane! We're dying to know how this has been allowed to go on for so long. The employee says that it comes from a long line of employees never being trained on the machine's proper maintenance and cleaning procedures. "Not only [is the] staff not properly trained in its cleaning and maintenance at almost every McDonald's I’ve had experience with, but the managers in charge of training them don’t know [how to] either," the employee continued.

Um, ew! We hope that this isn't the case for our McDonald's McCafe machine, because skipping our morning iced coffee isn't an option...
