The 54-year-old Big Little Lies actress shocked everyone when she unveiled a brand new seriously cropped hairstyle in a two-image carousel on Instagram on April 8th, showcasing a short blunt bob which can be seen from the front and also at the back, where the cut is even more obvious. It’s *so* unexpected!

The Nine Perfect Strangers star captioned the post: “Waiting for you all to come watch #Roar with me next week,” followed by the twinkling stars emoji, in reference to her new AppleTV+ show – an anthology of fables about womanhood today based on Cecelia Ahern’s book of the same name – which premiered on April 15th, and also stars Alison Brie, Cynthia Erivo, and Merritt Wever, among others. The extreme hair-over definitely caught fans by surprise, and as expected, countless comments about the shocking cut followed shortly after she hit that post button.
“Cool hair!!!” exclaimed one fan. “Your new haircut,” followed by three fire and then three heart emojis. “Love your hair!” praised another, while many others wanted answers in regards to whether Kidman went for the chop for the role, or whether she was wearing a wig. “Did you cut your hair?” one fan questioned, followed by three scissor emojis, to which one fan replied with, “No way she would cut her hair. That’s not even her colour. It’s a wig.”
