The 12-year-old went live on Instagram on January 26, where she interacted with viewers in real time. During the stream, she sported her signature blue hair, a black graphic tee, a statement necklace, and the accessory that immediately set social media buzzing: black teeth grills. She also wore heavy makeup and long nails, leaning fully into her grunge aesthetic.

At one point during the live, she responded to a fan’s question by saying, "Why is my teeth black? Are we okay?" before clarifying that the grills were temporary. "I could take them out," she added.
Her mom, Kim, also made a brief background appearance after popping into the room. The reality star noted that she didn’t want to be on camera and eventually asked North how much longer she planned to stay live. North replied, “just a little bit,” but moments later, Kim told her to inform viewers that she “has to go to bed.” North immediately ended the livestream after repeating that she had to get in bed.
Fans quickly took to Instagram to rewatch clips from the recorded livestream, sharing their reactions to North’s appearance and Kim’s brief cameo in the comments.
“She's doing so much. Her wig, her grills and her fake lashes. This is a lot for a 12 yr old,” said one fan. A second wrote, “The black grill is horrendous!” A third commented, “The girl is 12 yrs old and looks like that ?? And people are saying Kim is a good mother? However, some fans defended the Skims mogul and wrote, “It surprises me how many people just want to hate Kim. She is supervising her while she's doing it, reading the comments, and telling her it's time for bed. Remember, she has to walk the hardest line trying to positively co-parent with a maniac. Give the woman a break. She picks her battles like we all have to.”

Recently on the latest episode of Khloé in Wonderland podcast, the ex-wife of Kanye West opened up about the backlash her oldest daughter has faced as she continues to grow up in the public eye.
“She really is who she is and always has been that girl, and so, I nurture her.”
The mother of four explained that North is currently homeschooled and that she plays a very hands-on role in her education. “She is homeschooled, and a lot of it is me helping her do a lot of the teachings and the things that we do, a lot of realistic courses, things that she’s really into,” she shared. “Math. We’ll give budgets, and we’ll go around, we’ll get stuff, and we’ll add it all up and subtract it all. She has a brand-building class; it’s an actual course and a curriculum, fully interactive learning.”
