North West is already getting a major head start on her music career. The 12-year-old recently joined her father, Kanye West, onstage for a surprise appearance during his Mexico City concert last week.
Social media footage from the show captured North rocking her signature long blue hair, paired with baggy black pants, a matching top, and chunky platform boots. She accessorized with a statement necklace and sunglasses as she held a microphone, while her song played in the background.

North West Takes The Stage With Kanye West
North and her dad moved across the stage, vibing to the beat of their unreleased track in front of roughly 40K fans inside the venue. The Yeezy mogul kept things casual in a white hoodie, matching jeans tucked into black boots, and sunglasses—the same outfit he was seen wearing alongside Bianca Censori in a recent Instagram Story shared on her page.
On Instagram, fans flooded the comments with mixed reactions, with many arguing that North shouldn’t be onstage yet and should be allowed to simply be a kid.
“Please take her home and let her grow up,” said one person. Another said, “She’s not even actually singing.” Another wrote, “She can’t sing.” One commenter added, “I cannot begin to understand the pressure this CHILD is under.”
Others were even more critical of the performance. “She’s not even trying; it’s not like the words are that varied or difficult,” one wrote. Another commented, “Talent 0% / Money 100%.” Someone else pointed out her age, writing, “Just a reminder, she’s 12… this is wild. What time is bedtime for a 12-year-old nowadays?”
Additional comments included, “Love a good nepo baby,” “She looks so lost & inexperienced,” and one particularly harsh take: “I think he needs to take out a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal and apologize for this performance.”

North West Raps About Being ‘Banned’ From School
Last month, North faced backlash for her controversial lyrics on a collaboration with her dad titled “Piercing on My Hand (Ye’s Version).”
In the track, she delivers bold lyrics, rapping, “Piercing on my hand, the other holding bands,” and “No friends, just filter, you wouldn’t understand.”
She continues with lines that have sparked conversation online, including, “Went to school for two days, then I got banned/Skipping school, yeah, I do it on the daily,” followed by, “Got some new rings, yeah, they’re so crazy.”
Other lyrics touch on confidence and self-expression, with North adding, “All my friends are hits, you know I’m not lazy/You’re so angry that I’m so mainstream.”
She wraps up the verse by leaning into her edgy aesthetic, rapping, “I’m not sure I’m crazy/I want more piercings and tats/I love blue hair; put it in some plaits/Put the music to the max/I want like a hundred thousand racks.”
The track appears to address recent backlash over North wearing a dermal finger piercing. She previously gave fans a glimpse of her second dermal piercing on her Instagram Stories—after debuting her first on her middle finger.
Just yesterday, she shared a snapshot of both hands, revealing several new hand piercings as she announced that “Piercing On My Hand” is now available to stream.
