Akin to many of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s professional endeavors since stepping down as senior royals in 2020, the former Suits star’s lifestyle brand has been widely mocked from the very first moment it launched.

First introduced as ‘American Riviera Orchard’ and later rebranded as ‘As Ever,’ the lifestyle brand has offered everything from artisanal preserves and dog treats to teas, edible sprinkles, and, most recently, Californian rosé wine. But it hasn’t exactly enjoyed a smooth ride.

The brand has faced criticism for allegedly copying its name from an independent company, and is reportedly now facing “credibility issues,” as many sceptics don’t quite believe that the wine is truly selling out in the way in which Meghan and the brand say it is.

What Nickname Did Prince William And Kate Middleton Allegedly Give Meghan Markle's 'As Ever' Lifestyle Brand?

If the latest whispers are to be believed, Prince William and Kate Middleton have joined in on the mockery – and their alleged nickname for the brand is nothing short of cheeky.

According to Bella magazine, friends of the Prince and Princess of Wales have claimed that the couple have dubbed Meghan's venture 'As If' – and we can practically hear Alicia Silverstone's Cher Horowitz delivering this iconic line in Clueless! The meaning reportedly is: "as if it will take off!"

One friend reportedly said: "It's caused quite a bit of laughter within the group. WhatsApp messages have been going back and forth. It's all very budget and rushed. Embarrassing, really."

Internet Reactions

Once the nickname rumor hit the internet, people wasted no time in commenting! "Meghan's wines should be called: Sour Grapes by As Never," quipped one person on a Daily Mail article. "Desperate As Ever," slammed a second, as a third said: "As over." "As Ever should be rebranded as What Ever," a fourth chimed in, as a fifth concurred: "Never was more like. It was a fleeting money-making scheme she concocted. No difference between her and Del Boys dodgy dealings. She's a joke."

"Can't say I blame them, the rest of us ridicule the stupid woman why should the royals be any different?" asked a sixth, adding: "H&M had a HUGE opportunity to own the world and they blew it with their whining and moaning. Now they are just a pair of cheap freeloaders."

Some other readers didn't think that the report was accurate, as they deemed the Princess of Wales too classy and too busy for such quips. "I highly doubt that the RF would even mention anything like this to anyone, they know how fast news would travel, they are refined in comparison to the H and M," observed one commenter.

A second person wrote: "Really? I don't believe this for a second! You really think the Waleses have even given a thought to those two? I think they have enough going on in their own life to even think about anything other than their work, children & the health of Charles & Catherine."
