Earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s aides had a meeting with King Charles‘ head of communications in London, sparking rumors that the first steps towards a reconciliation are finally happening after many years of feuding.

However, neither Prince William nor any of his or Kate Middleton‘s aides were present, leading fans to believe that even if Prince Harry and Meghan were to reconcile with the monarch, the feud between the brothers could very much still be ongoing. Would it even be possible for Prince Harry to reunite with his father and still have conflict with his brother? Only time will tell!

Prince Harry's Aides Talk To King Charles' Aides In London

Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's aides, reportedly flew from California to London for a meeting with Tobyn Andreae, King Charles' communications secretary. The meeting reportedly took place at the Royal Over-Seas League, a private members' club just minutes from King Charles' London residence, Clarence House.

A source told the Daily Mail: "There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years. There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about."

Another source went on to say that the meeting was only the "first step towards reconciliation between Harry and his father, but at least it is a step in the right direction." They added: "Everyone just wants to move on and move forward now. It was finally the right time for the two sides to talk."

Neither side has addressed the conversation their aides were spotted having, with the last comment Prince Harry made about the rift being on May 2nd. He mentioned at the time that his father "won't speak to me" despite his pleas for reconciliation, adding: "There's no point in continuing to fight anymore."

He went on to say that "life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has," in reference to the King's ongoing cancer battle. Prince Harry added: "There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family. It would be nice to reconcile."

Prince William Reportedly 'Wasn't Invited' To King Charles And Prince Harry Peace Talks

According to Fox News Digital, the Prince of Wales didn't choose to skip the peace talks, either personally or via his aides. He was actually not invited!

"The important issue is that Prince William and his representatives were not invited," royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital. He went on: "I feel that this was a warning shot across William's bows that Charles is king – not him. It may also be a stark warning that Charles will decide what happens during his reign, not William."

"It's no coincidence that William and Catherine did not have a representative at the Royal Over-Seas League," another source echoed to the Daily Mail. "They were not asked to send anyone and will be treating the talks with extreme caution," the source continued.

Another Source Claims Prince William Chose To Stay Out Of It Because He 'Cannot Trust' His Brother: 'Charles Is More Accommodating Than William'

This varies from royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams' account, as he told Fox News Digital that Prince William would most likely have known that the meeting was taking place, but chose to not get involved due to his own issues with his brother.

Fitzwilliams explained that King Charles has more to gain from ending the royal feud, as he wants to see his grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, whereas Prince William is definitely more stubborn. "The King is still battling cancer and is in his late 70s. He wants a relationship with his grandchildren, whom he has hardly met. He is also temperamentally more accommodating than William," Fitzwilliams explained.

"William cannot trust the Sussexes. They must know it," he continued, in reference to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, adding: "The prospect of seeing the Sussexes at royal events would enrage the monarchy's loyal supporters… Of course, reconciliation is desirable [for the king]. It would, however, come at a price."
