Princess Anne Is 'Fed Up' With Prince Andrew
Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan author Christopher Andersen told Us Weekly that the Princess Royal is firmly on King Charles' side regarding the "Andrew problem," saying: "Anne has long sided with the King. She is as fed up with Andrew as Charles and William are."
Another insider echoed this to Radar Online, saying that while Princess Anne has dedicated her life to service and duty, Andrew has done the opposite, hence her frustration.
The insider described Anne as "modest, witty, and devoted to service," adding: "Those are qualities Andrew doesn't have, and he's painfully aware of it. It stings and is, quite frankly, driving him up the wall."
"Anne represents everything the monarchy is supposed to stand for – hard work and respect. For Andrew, who has lost all of that, it's a bitter pill to swallow," they concluded.
Prince Andrew Got Away With Things For Too Long When The Late Queen Elizabeth II Was Alive
Prince Andrew was long seen as the late Queen Elizabeth II's favorite child, which might explain why he got away with so much for so long. But his siblings and nephew are now reportedly relieved that things have finally changed.
Andersen noted that Andrew "could get away with pretty much anything when she was alive." King Charles, however – though still quite soft and afraid of confrontation, unlike his eldest son, Prince William – has started taking a firmer stance.
"Andrew has a definite arrogant streak, so instinctively he puts up a fight whenever he's called on the carpet by his big brother," Andersen told Us Weekly, adding: "But as the scandals keep piling up, he is increasingly resigned to the fact that he has dug a hole for himself he can't climb out of."
Prince William Has Been 'Urging' King Charles To 'Do Something' About Prince Andrew For Years
And nobody seems happier about Andrew's past finally catching up with him than the Prince of Wales. "William has been urging his father the King to do something about Andrew for years," Andersen continued.
"The Epstein sex abuse scandal just won't go away – the royals are holding their breath, anxiously waiting for the other shoe to drop once all the files are released," he added.
