Plenty of A-listers swear by separate bathrooms as the secret to a happy marriage – just ask Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas. But Robin Roberts and Amber Laign have unapologetically taken things to the next level!

Akin to King Charles and Queen Camilla, who famously enjoy solo time in their own separate residences, the Good Morning America anchor and her wife have figured out their own version of what makes their marriage work: separate apartments!

What Is The Secret To Robin Roberts And Amber Laign’s Happy Marriage?

Robin, 64, and Amber, 50, have been together for over 20 years, so they clearly know a thing or two about successful relationships. According to reports, the couple, who tied the knot in 2023, spend around three nights apart each week; but instead of causing issues in their relationship, it seems to be the key to keeping their marriage strong.

Speaking to E! News at the opening night of Call Me Izzy on Broadway earlier this month, Amber confessed: “The true secret: separate apartments.” She also name-checked the usual must-haves for a successful marriage, which are: “Communication, keeping it fresh, trust – all the good pillars.”

So what homes do the happy couple actually have? According to reports, Robin owns a home in Farmington, Connecticut, which she purchased back in 1994, while the couple also shares a place in Key West, Florida. And in NYC, Amber has her own Upper West Side apartment, which is just 10 minutes away from her wife’s.

Social Media Reactions

While many fans were thrilled to learn about one of the secrets to their happy relationship, many thought the comment was tone deaf and out of touch, because how many people can realistically afford two apartments these days?!

"People can barely afford a 2br apartment and this clown is telling the world to buy another place and live separately for a happy marriage," slammed one person on X. "She can afford separate homes," a second chimed in, this time on YouTube.

Others were totally on board with it, as a third person said: "I totally AGREE with having your own space. I need space. My own space." "It's smart," echoed a fourth.
