Ellen DeGeneres isn’t the only A-lister who has left the U.S. for Europe since Donald Trump became president for the second time.

Rosie O’Donnell, 63, has also started a new life overseas since Trump returned to the White House, claiming that her relocation was because she no longer felt safe in the U.S. under his presidency.

Rosie O'Donnell Talks To 'Variety' About Moving To Ireland With Her Daughter

The comedian, talk show host, and actress, who is now starring on Season 3 of And Just Like That, opened up about relocating to Ireland with her 12-year-old daughter Dakota in an interview with Variety, telling the pub that she hasn't looked back since!

"Never, for one moment since I arrived here, did I regret my choice," O'Donnell confirmed, adding: "People have been so welcoming, so accepting, and they have a different view of celebrity in the culture here. They are not prioritized over other people."

"People are much more friendly and intimate with each other in a real way," the former The Rosie O'Donnell Show host, pictured below while on an Autism Walk in North Dublin, continued. "Every time I go into the pharmacy, I fall in love, because the pharmacist talks to you. Have you ever spoken to a pharmacist at CVS?" she asked.

Rosie O'Donnell Updated Fans On Her New Life In Ireland On TikTok

The mom-of-five made the move in January 2025 with her youngest child, whom she shared with her late ex-wife Michelle Rounds. Her other children – Parker, 29, Chelsea, 27, Blake, 25, and Vivienne, 22, whom she shares with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter – stayed behind in the States.

A few months later, the former The View co-host shared an update with her fans on TikTok, revealing just how much she's embraced life in Ireland – despite missing her older kids. "The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming, and I'm very grateful," she told her followers.

"Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that's what I decided would be best for myself and my 12-year-old child," she continued, in reference to Dakota, who Rosie revealed in 2022 had been diagnosed with autism. "It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally, as well. The personal is political, as we all know."

"I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home. And I'm trying to find a home here in this beautiful country," she added.

When Will Rosie O'Donnell Return To The US?

When asked about a possible return to the U.S., Rosie made it clear that she was prioritizing her family's safety, and would therefore not be committing to moving back until she felt it was safe to do so. If we are to believe what she said, that will be well after Trump has left the White House!

"With the current political climate, when would it be safe to come back with my child?" she asked. "I'm not going to push it before this administration is completely finished, and hopefully held accountable for their crimes."

This echoes what she said earlier this year on TikTok, when she made it clear she wouldn't return without major change. "When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that's when we will consider coming back," she stated.
