Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Talk About Their Love Story In New Podcast Interview

The music-making couple spoke with podcast hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware in New York City to give an interview for an episode of their show Table Manners, which was released on May 1st.

They sat down to enjoy a meal and talk about their lives together, including their new music, love of cooking, family recipes, and stories from the early days of their relationship. The powerful duo started dating around mid-2023 but had previously met and worked with each other on music.

Their latest collaborative album, I Said I Love You First, was released on March 21st, 2025, and has been making headlines ever since, with singles like "Bluest Flame" and "Younger And Hotter Than Me" going viral on social media.

During their interview, the music producer talked about how they sparked a romance and what he was looking for before meeting his future wife.

"I really wanted to find the person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with," explained Benny.

"Everything I wrote down on the list was actually her," he continued while gesturing to Selena.

After mentioning that he was looking for someone "kind," "compassionate," "caring," and more, Benny noted that Selena was everything he had wanted, calling her "the most beautiful person on earth, inside and out."

Then, when the "Lose You To Love Me" singer began talking about their first date and subsequent first kiss, she hinted at her 'lonely' life before meeting him.

Selena Gomez Admits To Feeling 'Alone' And 'Embarrassed' After Breaking Up With Justin Bieber

During the Table Manners podcast episode, the 32-year-old recalled her first date and kiss with her fiancé. It had occurred about five years after her intense on-and-off relationship with pop star Justin Bieber ended, and he moved on to date and marry his current wife, Hailey.

Selena and the "Baby" singer reportedly called things off one last time in 2018 after having been dating since 2010. Justin reconnected with his former fling and friend, Hailey Baldwin, who eventually became Hailey Bieber after they decided to tie the knot.

The Only Murders In The Building star told the hilarious story of their first kiss, where she began having a physical reaction afterward, as a rash broke out on her face and her heart started "beating so fast" not long after they smooched during a card game.

"When you feel something behind a kiss, it's completely different," admitted Selena.

"I hadn't liked anyone in a very long time, so some kisses are for fun. I'd been alone for about five years."

The former Disney star added that between her breakup with Justin and her first few dates with Benny, she had been on a few lousy dates that hadn't gone anywhere. Therefore, her powerful first kiss with the award-winning producer caused her to feel things she hadn't in a while, both mentally and physically.

"I was a little embarrassed," she added.

The Texas native later explained that the "Teenage Dream" songwriter was comforting and reassuring after their first date incident, making their budding relationship more solid.

While they are reportedly taking a more relaxed approach toward their wedding planning, after this recent interview, it looks like Selena and Benny are still going strong and looking forward to their future.
