We’re already seeing fashionistas and influencers embracing the season’s hottest trend: “Dad shoes.” Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia Men’s Paris Fashion Week show marked the trend’s debut, proving that 2018 footwear would revolve around minimalist, vintage-inspired designs.

Dad shoes aren’t the only sneakers that are going to popular this year. Hallie Spradlin of Fashion Scoops says that people will be attracted to classic and clean sneakers in 2018, meaning that no one will be wearing shoes like wedge sneakers anymore.
“We are moving away from exaggerated styles like chunky sneaker soles or wedge sneakers. People ultimately want a functional shoe, so classic tennis shoe silhouettes are key. Design details such as monochromatic soles and laces keep the sneaker feeling clean and updated, while implementing unexpected laces such as ribbon or paracord are a chance for a touch of personality,” she tells Who What Wear.
