It’s just as important to finish your daily diet on a high note at night as it is to start it on one in the morning. While it’s key to get plenty of rest for overall successful weight loss, you should also try to consume and sneak in some extra health benefits before drifting off to sleep.

Of course you don’t want to eat right before bed, however, a healthy calming drink is always a good idea.

There is one drink we have in mind that we recommend choosing as your next bedtime thirst quencher. In fact, this particular drink is a great nighttime anti-inflammatory drink that basically melts away belly fat. Now, that is definitely ideal for weight loss!

Let’s dive right into it. This ideal anti-inflammatory nighttime drink is none other than a cup of green tea. Be mindful that while you may reach for a decaffeinated tea before bed, decaf tea often times doesn’t contain as many antioxidants as caffeinated tea.

According to Healthline, drinking tea is beneficial to your overall health because the plants, herbs, and spices that teas are made from contain anti-inflammatory properties. Green tea specifically has epigallocatechin-3-gallate, or EGCG for short, and EGCG specifically has anti-inflammatory effects.

In an interview with Men’s Health, sports nutritionist Cynthia Sass, M.P.H., R.D., explained that matcha green tea is one of the best green teas for your health because you’re drinking the leaf of the tea plant when you drink matcha tea.

“With matcha, you’re drinking the actual leaves, which have been finely powdered and made into a solution, traditionally by mixing about a teaspoon of matcha powder with a third cup of hot water,” Sass said.

Matcha is also rich in polyphenols, an antioxidant which--yes you guessed it--contains anti-inflammatory properties! Whether you choose to drink your green tea iced or hot, it is the perfect calming drink to sip before bedtime so you can finally see those weight loss results you’ve been waiting for.
