Many Taylor Swift fans—and critics–have been waiting for the pop star to make a political statement just like she did during the 2020 presidential election. Well, that time has finally come. Though she didn’t endorse any candidate, she did encourage her fans to vote. Keep reading for all the details.

Taylor Swift Encourages Her Fans To Vote

In a post to her Instagram story on Tuesday, the day of the presidential primaries, Taylor sent a message to her 242M followers:

“Today, March 5, is the Presidential Primary in Tennessee and 16 other states and territories. I wanted to remind you guys to vote the people who most represent YOU into power. If you haven’t already, make a plan to vote today.”

This isn’t the first time Taylor’s dipped her toes in politics. In 2020, Taylor Swift famously endorsed Joe Biden in 2020, when he was running against Donald Trump. Aside from encouraging fans to sign up to vote, Taylor also posted a photo of her self holding a plate of iced sugar cookies with “BIDEN HARRIS 2020” written on them. Many fans are wondering, if the same matchups happen again, if Taylor Swift will make a similar post.

Twitter Reacts To Taylor Swift's Post

Many users on X, formerly Twitter, have posted their reaction to Taylor's message on Instagram. Critics, mostly Republicans, have not have positive reactions: "We don't care," one user wrote.

"Irrelevant," replied another.

"I'm not a billionaire or a millionaire. Therefore I will vote the EXACT OPPOSITE of how millionaires and billionaires (Taylor Swift) want us to vote," wrote another person.

"Thankfully, the majority of Taylor Swift's followers are not old enough to vote," said one person.

"She didn't say who to vote for..." another added. "Trump it is!"

But others defended the "Look What You Made Me Do" singer. "My supergirl Taylor strikes again!" one fan wrote.

"Love her!" another said. "Go Tay!"

"God forbid people exercise their right to vote," a final fan said. "Shame on Taylor Swift for reminding people."
