Banks reflected on the steamy shoot on Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes video from her time on set. She revealed that getting the perfect shot wasn’t as effortless as it looks, noting that the tropical location brought several challenges with it. “That beach is unpredictable. Wind and sun in the eyes, and sand in all kinds of uncomfy places. It ain’t pretty,” she wrote. “But the key to getting a great shot is fooling the audience into thinking you’re super comfortable. You have to pretend it’s all so wonderful and natural and easy and cool. ”
Thankfully, it all worked out and Banks delivered a stunning swimwear look! She said that her Sports Illustrated shoot also served as an important chapter in her journey to self-acceptance and expressing body positivity. “I felt damn good. I felt insanely strong. I felt beyond powerful. I felt those extra pounds on my body,” Banks said. “I felt those extra pounds on my body and was giving @larettahouston (the shoot’s photographer) every ounce of sexy I had in my soul from my head to my toes. Do you feel it?”
