We put a lot of pressure on our jeans. We expect them to lift, tuck, smooth, and flatter our shape, all while also wanting them to be comfortable and stylish. Probably the most common thing women want out of their jeans is an instant butt lift. Let’s be real–there’s nothing worse than a pair of jeans that makes your butt look saggy.

Aside from buying the right size and style for your shape, there’s an unexpected and little-known jean trick that can actually make your butt really pop and it all has to do with the yoke of your jeans.

You’re probably wondering, “What the heck is a yoke?” Chances are, you’ve seen the yoke of your jeans before, but you probably didn’t think anything of it or recognize what you were looking at. The yoke is the patch on the back of your jeans right under your waistband and above the pockets.

According to Refinery29, "[The yoke is] the triangular, V-shaped seam below the waistband that gives curve and shape to the butt area. Depending on how straight or short the yoke is determines how the jeans will fit your derriere."

Many people don’t realize that the yoke on jeans can come in many different shapes and will actually affect the way your butt looks in them.

"The back yoke in a pair of jeans is essential in determining the fit of the jeans and how flattering they are on your bum," told Paige Adams-Geller to Who What Wear.

So which yoke will give your butt an instant lift?

“The most flattering yoke detail is the classic soft V-shape,” said Paige.

That’s it, ladies, it’s all in the yoke.
