Mike Goodnough Has Been Posting About His Breakup With Valerie Bertinelli And Said She Is 'At War With Her Ghosts'
The Hot In Cleveland actress reportedly began dating Mike, who is a lifestyle writer, in January 2024 and made their red carpet debut as a couple a few months later. However, sources confirmed that the two of them decided to split up after 10 months of dating in November 2024.
Although many couples in the public eye often try to keep the details of their breakups or relationship mishaps private, the writer, who runs a Substack page called 'Hoarse Whisperings,' has shared several posts with lengthy captions about what happened between him and the Food Network star.
His first instance of posting about their relationship on his Instagram account began around April 1st, where, in a since-deleted post, he wrote that "Valerie has been prone to lapsing into a place where she has been playing a one-woman tennis match thinking there is someone on the other side of the net."
He also claimed that his ex was "hostile" and "dishonest" following their relationship and said that "Valerie is in a war with her ghosts."
After taking a beat and deleting the post, he created a follow-up Instagram post, writing in his caption, "It's wild how many people on the Internet think they know better how someone should live their life than the person actually living it."
Mike Claims He Ended His And Valerie's 'Complicated Relationship' In A Recent Instagram Post
While fans of the Golden Globe winner assumed all was said and done after her ex deleted his scathing Instagram post, he went back online on April 18th and wrote another long and detailed caption to address the "conflict" between him and Valerie, mentioning that having to share the details made him "miserable."
"Valerie and I had a complicated relationship," he revealed.
"Our time as a couple ended months ago, but our close contact only really ended recently. So, it is more 'fresh' than it would seem. In trying to be a couple, an endless number of things got in the way."
Mike included that the "one thing" he felt was never an issue between him and the television personality was their love for each other. He mentioned that he regretted making his initial Instagram post, which he believed had worsened their breakup, as his ex is now allegedly refusing to speak to him.
"With that said, this chapter is now closed for me," he wrote at the end of his caption.
"I won't have anything more to say about it - and nothing I have to say will be about it. I've cried about this enough. It's time to move on."
Although he initially wrote that he had "nothing more to say about the breakup," when an Instagram user commented that Valerie had left him on Threads, he responded, "I ended the relationship."
"You tried, though. You really tried."
Since the 18th, the Substack writer has posted less direct information about his and the Bingo Blitz host's dramatic breakup but continues to share slightly cryptic and vulnerable thoughts with his Instagram followers. We'll be curious to see if he decides to break his pact and share more information about their parting or if he's truly ready to move on.
