Walmart is known for its affordable and accessible prices on everyday essentials, making it a go-to destination for shoppers on a budget. However, not every item found in the mega retail stores ends up being a good deal.
According to Walmart shoppers, some of the store’s items simply are not worth it, whether it’s due to quality issues or better alternatives at other stores. While you may be getting a decent price, the item may not last that long or be as satisfactory as you hoped. It’s a situation where you find that you truly ‘get what you pay for.’ Using reviews and info we’ve gathered from Walmart customers, we’ve rounded up seven items that might sound like a good deal but are actually worth skipping. Read more about them below.
Great Value Light Bulbs
Since you want them to power your home and supply light for as long as possible, you don't want to risk buying cheap lightbulbs that won't do the job for as long as you'd hope. Walmart shoppers on YouTube wrote about the Great Value lightbulbs and how they were not pleased with them.
"The LED light bulbs truly suck," wrote a customer. "For something that gets minimal use, I don't see how they can claim you get years of use when they start flickering within 8 months' time."

Great Value Skim Milk
Many people love to go to Walmart for better prices on household essentials, like milk, eggs, and other pantry items. However, some customers have been complaining about their brand of milk lately and finding that there have been some quality issues.
"In the last 2 years, the milk has been going bad [or] sour even before the sell-by [and] expiration date," commented a shopper.
"We used to just throw it away, but later realized we were just throwing money away."

Mainstays Showerheads
Like lightbulbs, showerheads are one of those things where you don't want them to be lousy. Having a bad showerhead can make showering rituals miserable, and there are many options out there on the market for affordable, good-quality showerheads. As it turns out, you should stay away from the cheaper, Walmart-brand showerheads.
"I purchased a Walmart detachable shower head [and] the thing broke just [from] installing it," wrote a shopper. "It was around $20. A hassle, as I had to go back and return it."
"The Mainstays shower fixture I bought at Walmart is a piece of crap," added another.

Mainstays Bath Towels
Sure, bath towels can get a bit pricey, depending on what kind of materials they're made out of. When you go for a cheaper one, you're rolling the dice and might get stuck with one that's scratchy and low-quality. Walmart customers have said that's what can happen with their Mainstays brand towels.
"The [towel] pulls out in strings after one or two washes, and they really do feel like sandpaper, and don't absorb anything," wrote a shopper.
"And it's not because of using fabric softener...they're just plain cheap."

Freshness Guaranteed Rotisserie Chicken
Rotisserie chicken is one of the most convenient grocery store items you can buy, as it's seasoned, fully cooked chicken that can be eaten on its own or used in a series of recipes. Certain Walmart locations that sell 'Freshness Guaranteed' products have rotisserie chickens, but some shoppers don't think they're worth it, and you're better off getting them elsewhere.
"Their cooked chickens are getting way overcooked and smaller," noted a shopper.
"Great value used to be a good product at a lower price, not anymore."

No Boundaries Sneakers & Tennis Shoes
If you need a last-minute pair of shoes for some kind of occasion, Walmart is a great place, as some of their fashion brands offer all different styles of footwear at low prices. Still, customers have warned that you shouldn't expect them to last you too long, especially if you wear them a lot.
"Soon as they get wet, they come completely apart," wrote a shopper about No Boundaries tennis shoes.
"The quality of the material wasn't good at all," added another. "After 8 hours, the material started to crease very badly."

Air Mattresses
There are few things worse than when you're sleeping on an air mattress while camping or staying at someone's house, and it begins to deflate in the middle of the night, essentially forcing you to sleep on the floor. The Walmart brand Ozark Trail may sell extremely affordable air mattresses, but that doesn't mean you'll have an extremely comfortable sleep.
"I have purchased two different air mattresses from Walmart, and both of them didn't even hold air the first night," wrote a customer.
"I have been on the floor a few mornings more than I care to," commented another. "Getting a Coleman would've prevented it."
