Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are quickly settling into their new lifestyle in Canada far away from the ins and outs of the royal family. The couple, however, still find their way to make headlines revolving around those close to them across the pond.
Recently, reports have speculated just how Queen Elizabeth II really feels about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s sudden departure from traditional royal life and their response to losing the Sussex Royal trademark.
Prince Harry and Meghan tried to trademark their foundation as Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex before their announcement that they would be stepping away from their duties. Bucking Palace quickly prohibited the couple from using the trademark following their big announcement in January.
The Sussex Royal website released an update detailing Prince Harry and Meghan’s plans moving forward. “While The Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organisation, given the specific UK government rules surrounding the use of the word ‘Royal’, it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organisation will not utilise the name ‘Sussex Royal’ or any other iteration of “Royal.”
The website further explained, “For the above reason, the trademark applications that had been filed as protective measures and that reflected the same standard trademarking requests as done for The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have been removed.”
Evidently, the Queen isn’t too happy with Prince Harry’s response to the trademark block. A source tells Us Weekly how the Queen really feels. “She’s so disappointed that her own grandchild would heap so much embarrassment on the monarchy and bring all this unwanted attention on his family at the worst possible time,” the source says.
We definitely hope that time will help mend the tension between members of the royal family.
