I'm someone who's just way more comfortable in pants. Don't get me wrong, I like wearing a cute dress to work or a skirt on the weekends, but pants are just so easy. You don't have to worry about sitting down, walking up stairs, you don't have to think.

So when you have a big job interview, the last thing you should be worried about is the right angle to cross your legs when sitting across from your future employer.

That being said, the options for formal pants that don't look like they are part of a pantsuit from 1991 are pretty slim. We rounded up some options that are still corporate but look like they're from this decade. We even threw in a pair of culottes for those of you in more creative industries. As always, you should consider the company dress code when picking out what to wear and, if it's casual, still dress up. Click the slideshow for pants you can wear to your next job interview + style tips.

Style Tip #1

Look for a pair of pants that hits just at your ankle. That length is perfect because then there's no extra material bunching up at your ankles.

The Essential Skinny ($88)

Style Tip #2

If you're going to go printed, stay minimal. We recommend sticking to solids, but if you must have a print, then white skinny stripes are the way to go.

Pinstripe Paperbag Trousers ($75)

Style Tip #3

Look for the word "tapered" in the product name or description--it essential means they are pants for work. "Tapered" means the pants become skinnier as they get closer to the ankle, aka, a sleek fit.

The Essential Taper ($108)

James Jeans Slouchy Crop Trousers ($198)

Luxe Suit Trousers ($68)

Halogen® Slim Stretch Cotton Blend Ankle Pants ($68)

Chelsea28 Drapey Culottes ($78)

Belted Tapered Trousers ($75)

Finley Crops ($118)

Sunday slim chino ($39.99–$79.50, down from $89.50)

Stretch Wool Tuxedo Pants ($198)

Pixie Pant ($39.99, down from $98)

Teddie Pant ($89.50)

The Kooples Timeless Suit Trousers ($240)

Metropolitan Pant ($99)

Grosgrain Belted Peg Trousers ($75)

Pinstripe Cigarette Trousers ($48)

Vince Camuto Seam Detail Pants ($99)

Martie Pant In Bi Stretch Cotton ($89.50)
