Zac Brown Opens Up About What Inspired Him To Lose Weight In A New Interview

The 47-year-old is best known for making country and folk-inspired songs that have you dancing at a big party, but now, he's making headlines about his intense weight loss journey, which he recently detailed in a detailed interview. Although the public may not have known, the singer used to weigh over 200 pounds, and his reputation as a large man and how he felt physically started bothering him to the point of making a change.

In an interview with GQ, Zac mentioned that he had gotten to a place where he felt "ready to apply the discipline" it takes to lose weight, after years of drinking beer, eating pizza, and not paying close enough attention to his health, especially when he was on the road touring for his fans. He expressed that for years, he tried short-term habits for weight loss, including eating a vegan diet and more, but eventually realized that losing weight is just as much a mental battle as a physical one.

"I had a great drinking career, and I'm retired from it now," he told the publication. "You have to redefine what success means to you every year or two, educate yourself, and then apply the discipline to doing it. For people who want to do it and feel like it's impossible, just start with a month."

Once he finally felt ready to make a change, he hired an "incredible" trainer who worked with professional athletes and made changes to his diet.

Zac Reveals That Cutting Out Seed Oils And Starting NAD Therapy Made A Big Difference In His Weight Loss Journey

During his fascinating interview, the award-winning musician mentioned several things and methods he started using in order to help himself on his weight loss journey. Overall, his perspective changed on how much attention he paid to his healthy habits, and he began investing in his health a lot more, from certain foods to extra treatments like NAD therapy on top of working on his mental health.

"I've been doing stem cells to help regenerate, and I've been taking peptides," he explained.

"I take NAD [nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide]," he continued. "I do a monthly IV with some exosomes and NAD in it. I take my vitamins and my supplements. I've got a great regenerative medicine doctor that I work with, and we do blood work every month."

Regarding his diet, one of the most effective things he did was cut out seed oils, like canola, corn, sunflower, and soybean oil. However, he's admitted that here and there, when he ignores his food labels and eats more seed oil foods, he gains a few pounds back. But when he is disciplined and pays more attention to those things, he sees significant results, and with all of these wholesome and healthy methods combined, he has lost more than 65 pounds and gone under the 200-pound mark.

"Seeing the results that come from it, and my psychology around it, it made it easy to sacrifice what I wanted in order to get where I want," he admitted.

Zac's story is quite an inspiring one, as he noted that once you start working hard and can notice the difference in your body, it'll put you in a zone that will "keep that momentum going."
