You woke up late, have five minutes to get ready and aren’t sure where to begin. Before you reach for your eyeshadow quad and fumble with light and dark shades–which goes where again?–allow us to simplify your routine in a major way. You only need to apply eyeshadow to two places on your eye for an incredible look, as long as you use a metallic shadow that’s right for your skin tone and follow these simple steps from makeup artist

Select The Right Shade
“The first step in using metallic shadow is to be sure to use light shimmers instead of glitter to keep a beautiful and more natural effect,” Dalton-Brush says. “Fairer skin should stick to silvers and platinum colors, while more olive tones should go for golds and bronze colors. Rose gold is a universal color that looks stunning on anyone–and is so in right now.”
Apply To The Inner Eye
To apply the metallic shadow, Dalton-Brush suggests first taking the color on your brush and tapping off any excess color to ensure you aren’t left with a face full of shimmer. “Take a touch of the metallic eyeshadow and add it to the inner corner of your eye to add a little sparkle and glimmer,” Dalton-Brush says. “It will brighten your eye up a bit. Then take a small fluff brush to buff it out so that it blends smoothly and beautifully.”
Highlight The Brow Bone
Applying shadow to your brow bone is a bit trickier, Dalton-Brush says, and should only be a highlighting compliment to your eye makeup because you don’t want it to stand out. “Use a near nude shimmer and place it right under your brow so it highlights your brow bone (highlighting generally means accentuating where light would normally hit), giving it a lifting and beautiful effect,” Dalton-Brush says. “Just be sure to blend it–the last thing you want is a harsh line in the brow area. Metallics are classiest when blended and used as a beautiful accent or a well blended base.”
