Have you ever been at a restaurant and the waiter brings you a dish that’s compliments of the chef? It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, you wonder why you got so lucky. This happened to me recently and it got me thinking, is it necessarily a good thing when you get free food from a restaurant? It could be because the kitchen needs to get rid of certain ingredients… not sounding like such a sweet deal anymore, huh?
Well, luckily, I was wrong about this–it is typically a good sign when a restaurant gives you free food! Christopher Fehlinger maître d’ at a popular New York City restaurant, tells Reader’s Digest, “Once you’re recognized as a regular, good things start to happen. You’ll find your wine glass gets filled without being put on your bill, or the chef might bring you a sample.” He recommends going to a restaurant on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays if you want to become a recognizable face.
