This may not be the first Disney mouse collab we’ve seen, but the Florida-native in me is still secretly loving it. ASOS teamed up with Disney by Aliceband to bring a little piece of Florida (or Cali) to all of us with their collection of fashionable adult-sized Minnie Mouse ears. But before we get all excited and giddy, and start throwing pixie dust around, let’s face the facts. Though I wish I could tell you that ASOS designed this collab in order to make your summer vacay to Disney’s Magic Kingdom ten times more spectacular, that probably was not the retailer’s intention.
In a press release, ASOS explains that the collab “is a reminder to fans of all ages to celebrate individual style and have fun with fashion,” and I think that’s great, but unfortunately that isn’t how they’ll be worn. As soon as the girls down in the Sunshine State hear about this collab, Minnie Mouse’s poor innocent ears will be on the heads of Florida music festival attendees and ravers, and Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando 2014 will covered in Minnie ears this November. Sorry, Minnie. I hope you like house music.
But regardless of their true purpose, these definitely aren’t the typical Minnie headbands you would find in Florida and California’s themeparks. ASOS has taken Minnie Mouse ears to a new level by adding studs, flowers, sequins, and pom poms.
