UPDATE (11/15/17): When Victoria’s Secret first announced they would be collaborating with Balmain for their upcoming catwalk show, fans couldn’t have been more excited. And now, as the runway spectacular quickly approaches, the lingerie brand has released exclusive pics of the new collection. Behold: the beauty that is Victoria’s Secret x Balmain!
Victoria’s Secret debuted these two sets on their Instagram account over the past two days. Pretty edgy, right?
Earlier this week, the brand also released a video teasing the collection, which appears to feature tons of thigh high boots, studded leather jackets and mini skirts. Oliver Rousteing himself appears in the video and describes the collaboration as fit for “a powerful lady, strong and confident girl that knows what she wants.” Clearly, he nailed this theme to a T!
The Victoria Secret Fashion Show seems to get more decadent every year, and this time around is no exception. The brand will be partnering with Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing to create some one-of-a-kind lingerie looks for its annual catwalk extravaganza. And just as you’d expect, all the pieces are seriously stunning.
In a new video posted to Victoria’s Secret YouTube account, the brand teases images of items from the new line. While we weren’t able to see the actual undergarments themselves, we were gifted with a glimpse of this bejeweled shoulder pad – possibly part of a jacket worn with an equally sparkly bra? From the looks of it, the collection appears to be pretty edgy.
Following the theme, Lily Aldridge was spotted wearing a spiked choker. Careful girl, you could poke an eye out with that one!
We also saw a more subdued version of the daring neck piece, as well as some gold hoop earrings engraved with the Balmain name.
In the video, the models also chatted about their warm relationship with the designer. Many of the VS angels are part of the “Balmain army” – the group of girls who continually star in his campaigns – so it seems like the perfect collaboration! Come this year’s show in Shangai, the French designer will likely ask his pals Sara Sampaio, Joan Smalls, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Karlie Kloss to model the new line.
In addition to the runway collection, the duo will be also be launching a capsule collection, which is set to hit stores on Nov. 29. While the lingerie label has called upon other famous designers in the past for their technical prowess, Victoria’s Secret x Balmain marks the first time the brand has partnered with a major fashion label on an in-store line.
There’s no official word on what the collection will look like, but we can make some guesses based off its new promo photo. The black-and-white poster features both brand names, in what appears to be a punk-rock tribute to the Sex Pistols’ album artwork. And on top of all that, there’s a smattering of cheetah print and some sayings we can’t quite decipher. If these edgy graphics are any indication, no doubt this collection is going to be FIERCE.
We’ll probably have to wait until the actual show to get a good glimpse of the new pieces, though. Just like Rousteing’s line with H&M a few years ago, it seems that details are currently being kept under wraps.
To see the runway and capsule collections debut in full, make sure to tune into CBS on Nov. 29! And if you simply can’t wait until then, keep checking the brand’s various social media accounts for any additional teasers. We’ll definitely be seeing more of these as we get closer to the air date of the show.
