The idea of protein powder can evoke thoughts of body builders, bulging muscles, and fake tans, but the truth is, it’s an awesome tool for anyone who struggles to get enough protein into their diet. And why should you care about your protein intake (especially collagen protein)? It’s an essential building block for just about every component of your body, including your muscles, bones, teeth, skin, joints, and connective tissue. In other words… it’s pretty key.

Assuming we’ve now convinced you of how important protein is to your system, let’s talk about how to get more of it in. Our favorite collagen protein powder by far is from Bulletproof, which with the code NEWYEAR20 is 25% off plus free shipping on orders over $35 from January 19th to 31st. It’s made from pasture-raised cows and has no added hormones, and comes in all sorts of tasty flavors and convenient forms.

The traditional Bulletproof collagen protein powder is available in unflavored, chocolate, and vanilla. It also comes in specialized gut health, joint boost, beauty boost, and daily energy varieties. Mix the unflavored powder into any beverage or baked goods, or the flavored powder into a refreshing smoothie. Get started by using the below recipe for a delicious low-carb swirled blueberry vanilla smoothie, which takes five minutes to make.

Low-Carb Swirled Blueberry Vanilla Smoothie

Ingredients

1 avocado, halved

1 cup coconut milk

1 1/2 cups filtered water

1/2 cup pre-cooked and frozen purple cauliflower (roughly chopped)

1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries (or organic fresh blueberries), divided

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons Collagen Protein

6 drops liquid stevia or monk fruit

1/2 teaspoon ashwagandha powder (optional)

Instructions

1.Add all ingredients (starting with 1/4 cup blueberries and 1 cup water) to a high-powered blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.

2.Taste the mixture and add more sweetener, if desired. Blend again to incorporate.

3.Pour half of the smoothie mixture into 2 glasses.

4.Add remaining frozen blueberries and water to the mixture still in the blender, and blend again until incorporated.

5.Divide and pour the rest of the smoothie mixture between your 2 glasses.

6.Use a stainless steel or glass straw to swirl the two layers together and create a pattern.

7.Serve immediately.
