For years, Alexandra Lea suffered with severe chest and back pain as a result of being overweight. With a BMI over 40 which placed her in the morbidly obese category, she struggled daily with exhaustion and discomfort while still searching for every excuse to put her health on the backburner. But in 2018, Alexandra went for a short walk with her fiance and was in such severe pain that she considered calling an Uber to drive her the 3 blocks home. When she arrived home, she decided it was time to make a change.

After that walk, Alexandra knew she needed to fix her routine if she wanted to enjoy life. “I came home and decided to take the first step to lose weight, so I put on the biggest workout clothes I had and was busting out of them. I cried while looking in the mirror at myself who couldn’t fit into stretchy workout clothes, but I knew crying was counterproductive so I sucked it up and started a very short modified workout. I knew I needed a change now or the path I was going down was going to end in disease and very preventable health issues.”

Once she changed her mindset, Alexandra put a plan into place for how she was going to lose the pounds. For this, she attributes Beachbody. Instead of allowing her diet to fall off the rails, she adopted the 2B mindset, which taught her more about nutrition and how to portion out her meals so that they would work towards her weight loss without sacrificing the foods she loved.

She fell in love with the Beachbody workout programs which taught her how to integrate weight lifting into her routine. “LIIFT4 was amazing to tone my muscles as I had never done any weight training before in my life. It was so manageable to set aside 4 days a week to follow the program. I also loved T25 because it’s zero equipment and I was able to do it easily at home. Plus I found I could always find time for a quick but super effective 25 minute workout in my day!”

By changing her mindset surrounding her diet and incorporating just 25 minutes of exercise into her routine most days a week, Alexandra was able to find a maintainable and healthy schedule that fit perfectly within her busy lifestyle. Where once she was in pain from a walk around the block, she is now a Beachbody coach and has come to embrace her strength with a better relationship with not only her body, but those around her.

Losing weight doesn’t have to mean losing joy in the food you consume. Instead, you can still relish in delicious meals while finding happiness in your body and the healthy lifestyle you’ve created! “Being called an inspiration is still weird to me, but I am using it to help others achieve their goals. I am so thankful for that!”
