black tea

When you think of your favorite warm beverages coffees and teas probably come to mind, right? It turns out that your go-to teas and coffee can do wonders for your waistline, including black tea. According to a study done by UCLA researchers, black tea may promote weight loss and other health benefits by changing bacteria in the gut. The UCLA study found that the percentage of bacteria associated with obesity decreased, while bacteria associated with lean body mass increased. How amazing is that?!

green tea

Another popular hot tea that can help with weight loss is green tea. In an interview with Southern Living, registered dietitian nutritionist Amy Gorin explains how green may help you lose weight. “This is because green tea may help boost metabolism-- and likely also because of the water (which is filling) that the tea provides when it is brewed.”

ginger tea

Ginger tea can also promote healthy gut function. You can easily pair your ginger tea with some freshly squeezed lemon for even more health benefits. According to Healthline, “Adding a squeeze of lemon to your ginger tea or ginger drink might help you drink more liquids. This may keep you hydrated and feeling fuller longer, possibly improving your weight loss efforts.” Duly noted!

black coffee

We’ve got some good news for you if tea isn’t really your hot drink of choice. A mug of hot black coffee can also help you to lose weight. As reported by Women’s Health, Dr. Bob Anot’s book The Coffee Lover's Diet: Change Your Coffee, Change Your Life explains all of the benefits that coffee actually contains in all of its goodness. In the book, Dr. Arnot recommends drinking three cups of black coffee for mood improvement, higher energy levels, a faster metabolism, and weight loss.
