Many of us are searching for ways to build volume in our hair so that it doesn’t fall flat at the roots — and we quickly discover this can be a difficult task. Unless we dedicate several hours a week to blowing out our hair, or waiting for hot rollers to do their job, or calling on professionals for blowout treatments that can cost hundreds a year, achieving body and volume isn’t typically a simple thing to do, especially if your hair is thin or fine.
But pro hairstylist Julie Meikle took to TikTok to proclaim she has found a quick and easy way to add “more volume” in her hair that really “made a difference.” And her gorgeous hair is proof that this one product — which is not a traditional dry shampoo — can boost flat hair fast.
@juliemeikle Quick and easy ways to boost up your hair. Voluminous hair doesn’t have to be difficult! #hairtips #hairtutorial #over50
Here’s her secret product (which isn’t a secret at all, and is widely available) and her fast, simple tips to boosting body in her hair.
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is the product of choice in this tutorial, and it’s a classic that markets itself as an alternative to dry shampoos that can often leave flakes and residue in your hair. Instead, this “invisible dry hair spray” has “zeolite crystallines” That absorb oil at the roots without powdery residue to help build in texture and volume and extend the length of time between washes. Its nourishing ingredients include watermelon, lychee, and edelweiss flower, and several reviewers say it not only smells great, but creates amazing volume in their hair.

Meikle makes the volumizing process look easy. Needless to say, she starts off with a fantastic medium-length haircut that features long layers and shorter, face-framing layers. She has also added rollers to her hair to boost its minimal curl and create texture and volume before adding any product. But then Meikle truly creates impressive volume by sectioning off her hair with her hands and spraying her roots with Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. She works the product into her roots with her fingers and, voila, is left with incredible lift and body.
If you’re curious about trying this product, you can find it on Oribe's website or Amazon.
