Adele got everyone talking on her 32nd birthday when she posted a picture celebrating. Fans have been catching glimpses of the singer’s recent weight loss for months, but her most recent picture definitely shows the most obvious difference.

The singer captioned the photo by thanking fans for the birthday wishes and giving a shout out to healthcare professionals and essential workers: “Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time. I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels.”
Many commenters applauded the singer's impressive transformation, including Chrissy Teigen, who wrote, "I mean are you kidding me." James Charles, famous beauty Youtuber and makeup artist, also commented on the picture: "YOU LOOK AMAZING."
However, not all of the comments on the Grammy winner's post were positive. Some claimed the singer looked better before while others even accused her of betraying the body positive movement.
In response, Peter Geracimo, Adele's former personal trainer, spoke out in defense of the singer's weight loss. In a seperate post on Instagram, he wrote, "When Adele and I started our journey together, it was never about getting super skinny. It was about getting her healthy."
He continued, "When 25 dropped and the tour [was] announced, we had to get ready for a 13 month grueling schedule. In that time, she warmed to training and made better food choices. As a result, she lost considerable weight and people took notice."
He also encouraged people to keep their opinions and criticisms to themselves: "She did not lose the weight to make others feel bad about themselves. This personal transformation has nothing to do with me or you. It’s about Adele and how she wants to live her life."
Adele herself has kept her message simple. "I used to cry but now I sweat," she wrote in a previous Instagram post.
