Despite earlier reports to the contrary, it now appears that Amy Schumer and husband Chris Fischer are indeed going their separate ways and reportedly divorcing. The pair have been married for seven years after tying the knot in February 2018, and share six-year-old son Gene, whom they welcomed in May 2019.

The pair have faced split rumors for the last few months, with the rumors intensifying after they quietly put their homes on the market.

However, insiders previously suggested that they were attempting to work through their issues, with an insider telling People last month: “They’re privately working through normal issues that couples in long-term marriages have. They are both committed to the relationship.”

Amy Schumer Confirms She And Chris Fischer Are Getting Divorced

The 44-year-old comedian and actress took to Instagram on December 13th to set the record straight and let her fans know the update to her personal life. She wrote in a since-deleted post: "Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son."

The Snatched star then addressed ongoing speculation surrounding the split – including her highly-publicized 30-lb weight loss – adding: "We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basketball player and not because he's a hot James beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever."

Why Are Amy Schumer And Chris Fischer Getting Divorced?

There are many theories about why the pair are going their separate ways, with an insider telling the Daily Mail earlier this year: "Amy is 100 percent getting divorced. She got skinny, she is over it. Chris is mostly out of the house at this point. They've listed two homes now, in Brooklyn and New Orleans."

More recent reports suggest that the Life & Beth actress wasn't fully satisfied with the roles of just mom and wife, and still wanted a thriving career, too. The career she was seemingly very likely to have after the roaring success of her 2015 movie, Trainwreck.

Sources are reportedly claiming she felt she couldn't pursue her career in the way she wanted while married to Chris, 45, having placed her professional ambitions on hold during their relationship…

"When Trainwreck came out in 2015, she was on fire with her career, and she was offered lots of roles that she ended up saying no to," a source told the Daily Mail on Saturday, December 13th. They went on to say that she put her career on hold after giving birth to Gene, adding she "didn't go full throttle as she would have liked." But now, things could change…

Is Amy Schumer's Career The Real Reason For The Split?

Ultimately, it does appear that the Kinda Pregnant star's career aspirations played a significant role in the breakdown of her marriage. And now that she's single, sources say she's eager to see whether she can pick up where she left off a decade ago!

"Now, 10 years on from the Trainwreck high and success that started giving her the career she expected for herself, she's looking to get that back and see if lightning strikes twice for a major movie career," the source claimed.

"With those career goals and her being a mother, she didn't focus much on her marriage to make that succeed. But that is the life she was chasing, and the life she has chosen to take into the new year," they went on, adding: "She's realized you can't have everything and the thing that suffered most was her marriage. Now she is trying to figure it all out one day at a time."
