1. Unused Navigation Apps
These days, there are so many different navigation apps on the market that can help people get around. However, after owning a smartphone for a while, people usually end up using only one, maybe two max. Therefore, any excess apps are simply taking up space.
"Get rid of those navigation apps you're barely using," says tech expert and owner of The Big Phone Store, Steven Athwal. "People sometimes have multiple navigation apps downloaded, such as Waze and Google Maps, but these apps are such large storage hogs and slow users. They keep their maps in large files offline, and your location history and cached route data. So, even if you're not using them, they're still checking GPS, Bluetooth, and network data. Remove them, and you've already freed up a significant amount of storage."
2. Facebook
Facebook is one of the most notorious social media apps for paving the way for other platforms. However, there are some people who are using it less and less, and if you're one of them, then you might want to delete it, as it's considered a 'storage hog.'
"Facebook loads a lot in the background, refreshing and syncing your data, caching videos, tracking your location, and preloading content," explains Athwal. "It does all this for the user experience, but this all adds up. The cached videos alone grow into multiple gigabytes if you let them. Facebook's background activity is just eating into your storage, RAM, and CPU resources, so you don't need to be using it for it to be a storage hog."
3. Extra Games
One of the most exciting parts about having an Android or any smartphone is being able to download interesting and entertaining games that can easily pass the time. However, you might not notice that there are a lot of games you'll download at first and then forget to delete them later.
"We all have that one game we downloaded just for fun. It was exciting for a little while, and then you completely forgot about it," says tech and cybersecurity pro Bob Gourley. "Many games take up a lot of space and keep sending notifications to your phone all the time. If you don't play it regularly, just get rid of it.".
