The lengthy split between former A-list power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt seems like it may be coming to an end.

The famous pair, who broke up in 2016 after 12 years together following an alleged violent altercation in a private plane, have had a notoriously nasty set of divorce proceedings. Though a friend of Brad’s told NewsNation Now in August of 2023 that Angelina “is going to drag this [custody battle] out until the twins [now 14] turn 18…4 more years,” recent court documents reveal that the years-long divorce may be coming to a close. The twins referenced are Angelina and Brad’s children, Knox and Vivienne. The couple share them as well as 4 other children: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, and Pax.

Brad And Angelina Currently Battling Over Winery Ownership; Custody

Within the last year, Angelina filed a $250M countersuit against ex-husband Brad for trying to “seize control” of the French winery they bought in 2008 and even used as their marriage venue. Brad fired back by filing legal documents in the case claiming that Angelina went against their original agreement and “vindictively” sold her share of the $30M French winery, Château Miraval, to get back at him following their bitter custody battle over their six children. Angelina responded by upping the ante—filing court papers mocking Brad’s claims to have “built” their wine business, saying he has at most “visited the vineyards to admire the work of the French laborers who actually made the business.”

Now, along with the difficult legal untangling of their shared business deals (like the Château), the troubled twosome must come to an agreement about the custody of their children under legal age, Knox and Vivienne. Shiloh is currently 17, but hasn't played as much of a factor considering the custody battle is likely to extend well after her 18th birthday.

Difficult Custody Battle Ahead for Brangelina

Though there haven't been any changes in the custody case since July 2021, according to legal records, it stands to reason that the battle for custody between the Eternals actress and the Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood star will get just as knock-down, drag-out as their other legal disputes have become. It's especially likely considering the allegations Angelina has made against Brad, including accusations of abuse actions by him toward both herself and the children.

At one point, Brad was paying $1M per year for child support of the couple's children. When the couple first separated, 5 of the 6 Jolie-Pitt kids were under 18—meaning the Bullet Train actor had to pay $200,000 per child per year until they turned 18, a total of more than $4M. Friends of the megastar estimate that he's spent over $14M so far on the divorce ("eight figures easily"), including these payments as well as nearly $2M in legal fees and an $8M "loan" to Angelina in 201 so she could by a $24.5M home in Los Feliz, California.

Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Divorce May Be Finalized Soon

Yet, despite all of this back and forth between the pair, it seems as if the years-long battle may be coming to a close. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, both Pitt and Jolie are serving their final financial disclosures on the pther party, a noteworthy even given there hasn't been much movement on the divorce case in years.

Though the final terms of any overall settlement of the divorce haven't been filed yet, the finality of the financial disclosures points to the idea that it could happen very soon.
