Season 15 of Ru Paul’s Drag Race kicked off with a bang on January 6th on MTV, as Ariana Grande was not only on the judging panel for its first episode, but appeared before the contestants in the most iconic, spectacular way imaginable!
The 29-year-old “Break Free” singer first appeared in the work room disguised as Ornacia, the infamous mannequin head first introduced by Ru Paul’s Drag Race Season 6 queen, Vivacious. Ariana unzipped the Ornacia head to reveal herself, and said, “Mother has arrived,” paying tribute to Vivacious by quoting her during her original reveal all those years ago.

Hysteria predictably ensued in the work room, and of course in the comments section of the clip when it was posted on Instagram! “This is hands down the best way they could have done it omg,” one fan commented, while another said, “she nailed it,” and another added, “I lost my mind!”
Ariana Wears Bespoke Tony Iniguez Outfit For ‘Drag Race’ Return
The R.E.M. Beauty mogul‘s one-of-a-kind outfit was designed by LA-based costume designer Tony Iniguez, with inspiration of course coming from Ornacia herself, and consisted of a black and white patterned pleated micro-mini skirt and matching over the knee heeled boots in the same pattern.
She toned the rest of the look down by accessorizing the skirt and boots with a plain black sweater, and wore her hair in a ponytail, which is still considered high by most people’s standards, but definitely not as sky-high as it once was!

Ariana’s look when she sat at the judging desk at the end of the show was just as memorable, as she wore a striking cone bralette from the Schiaparelli Fall/Winter 2023 collection, accessorized with a black velvet midi skirt with a high slit, sheer tights, and pointed-toe black pumps. The Wicked star’s makeup was also on point, consisting of her signature winged liner and voluminous lashes combo, and some fabulous stick-on sequins.

Comments And Advice To Season 15 Queens
The “7 Rings” hitmaker firstly thanked the contestants, saying: “I think drag is the most infectious and joyous art form that there is. Thank you guys for bringing so much joy to the lives of the Drag Race fans and to everyone.”
She then recalled her first appearance as a guest judge in Season 7 (wow, was it really that long ago?!) and told the queens to always be present in the moment, as she didn’t feel she was totally present the first time she appeared on the show. “The last time I was here I had just come from shooting the “Bang Bang” video the night before, and I was so drained. It was just such an overwhelming time in my life and I felt like I wasn’t really fully present for it,” she said, adding, “Remember to take care of yourself and be present, because it’s such an amazing moment and all of your lives are changing for good, forever.”
