Bebe Rexha recently took to Twitter to call out body shamers with a powerful, empowering message that has resonated with her fans. In an effort to make a stand against cyberbullying, the Grammy nominee posted a screenshot of search results that showed her name alongside the word “fat.”

The 33-year-old “I’m Good (Blue)” singer added her own defiant response: “Yes I’m in my fat era and what?” The tweet was accompanied by a photo of Rexha holding up her shirt in a bathroom mirror, displaying her stomach.

Back in April, the stunning “I’m a Mess” hitmaker also brought attention to the controversial generated search bar on TikTok. At the time, she posted a screenshot of it to Twitter that revealed that some people were looking up “Bebe Rexha weight.”

She then wrote, “Seeing that search bar is so upsetting. I’m not mad cause it’s true. I did gain weight. But it just sucks. Thank you to all the people who love me no matter what.”

The “I Got You” crooner also discussed her weight gain, PCOS diagnosis and chart-topping musical success with Jennifer Hudson in an interview with the talk show host last month.”Listen, we’re in the public eye, so that’s bound to happen,” she told the American Idol alum, adding, “But we gotta just be positive and just show people love.”

Rexha continued: “I was a lot thinner and I did gain some weight — that comes with the territory.” She then opened up about her recent polycystic ovary syndrome diagnosis: “I’m not mad about it because it is true, but when you see things like that, it does mess with you.”

She went on, providing an important message to anyone unfamiliar with the disease: “[PCOS] is one of the leading causes of why women gain weight and are obese,” she said. “I literally jumped, like, 30 pounds so quickly, maybe a little bit more.”

She added, “You don’t know what somebody’s going through, what they’re going through in their life, so it kind of is tough, but I feel like we’re in 2023. We should not be talking about people’s weight.”

Fans Defend and Support Rexha

After Rexha shared her June 2nd ‘fat era’ tweet, many fans came to her defense and left sweet messages in the Twitter thread. “Bebe you look beautiful as always,” one wrote with heart emojis, adding, “love you lots and sending you virtual hugs.” Another added, “Bebe Rexha deserves every amount of success she gets and more.”

Others stressed the importance of calling out body shaming whenever possible, deeming it “inappropriate,” “rude” and “toxic.” One tweeted, “Shut up and leave her alone she’s literally perfect !” as someone else chimed in: “normalize not shaming celebrities for gaining weight!” (We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.)
