Behati Prinsloo Levine may look breezy and confident in this post on Instagram, but that wasn’t always the case for the 31-year-old model. The Namibian supermodel shared that her enviable long legs were the subject of teasing during her younger years.
The 5-foot-11-inch model revealed to the Today Show that she was bullied during middle and high school for being taller than everyone in her grade. Some students even called her “giraffe.” But, Adam Levine‘s future wife certainly got the last laugh.
After being scouted by modeling agencies and walking in countless runways, including the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show she has found her confidence. Now, she’s unafraid to rock barely-there bikinis like this pink and green cut-out number or this tiny black one.
The Victoria’s Secret Angel is happily married to the lead singer of pop rock band Maroon 5 and has two daughters Dusty Rose and Gio Grace.
The South Africa-born model also shared to the Today Show that she experienced post-partum depression after her first daughter was born, and that Levine was there for her every step of the way.
“I had moments of post-partum that I felt like it was coming through. But, my husband was so incredibly supportive and always got me out of it. I think it’s very normal as a young mom or a new mom to feel hopeless…” she said in a video interview.
Along with her work as a model and motherhood, she is an activist who fights for animal rights. Her most notable conservation efforts include her partnership with the Save The Rhino Trust Namibia.
Environmental causes are close to her heart, and she loves spending time with her daughters and friends on the water. Prinsloo-Levine shared to her 5.8 million followers on Instagram a throwback video learning how to surf in honor of World Ocean’s Day.
