Summertime is the best excuse for getting a new haircut (you need that hair off your face and shoulders to stay cool, right?). If you have thin or fine hair, the hot weather combined with humidity can wreak havoc on your hair, making it look limp, flat, and tired. A great cut will revive strands and bring vitality to your hair, and this usually involves including layers in your ‘do. A single-layered haircut is more likely to fall flat and not offer movement and body.

No matter which end of the spectrum you fall on — long-haired lover or fan of short and chic cuts — there’s a haircut here that will make the most of thin hair. These are among the hottest hairstyles you’ll see this summer, plus they’re low-maintenance and look ‘so flattering’ on thin and fine hair.

1. Blunt Bob With Subtle Layers

Blunt bob and layers might sound like an oxymoron, so let us explain. Leaving the ends of your chin-length bob blunt creates density in thinning hair that can help make it look full and healthy. But adding subtle lang layers is the key to also making your hair move and ensuring the roots don’t flatten. It’s the best of both worlds.

2. Choppy Lob

The choppy lob is the original cool-girl haircut. It has ends that reach around the collarbone, giving you more length to play with than the bob, and a multi-layered approach keeps it voluminous. You can ask your stylist to frame some layers around your face, or even give you curtain bangs, to highlight your facial features and bone structure.

3. Pixie Cut With Textured Layers

Throw out everything you thought you knew about the pixie cut — it’s more than just a short crop. The pixie with textured layers keeps more length on top so that you can create waves and texture that help beef up thinning hair and conceal areas of sparseness on your scalp.

4. Shoulder-Length Hair With Internal Layers

The shoulder-length haircut is our favorite compromise between short and long, and can be a nice change if you want to remove length and make your hair look fuller, but still want to feel like you can throw your hair up in a bun in a pinch. Internal layering is layering for people who don’t like the look of obvious layers — layers are cut beneath the top layer of your hair so that volume and airy texture are added, but not dramatic visible layers.
