Many celebrities spoke out against ICE at the Grammys, from addressing the violence during their acceptance speeches to wearing “ICE out” pins on their outfits. One celebrity’s comments in particular didn’t sit right with some critics online, though. Billie Eilish, during her acceptance speech for Song of the Year, encouraged people to continue protesting against ICE, saying, “No one is illegal on stolen land.”

However, the 24-year-old singer’s $3M Los Angeles home does sit on land owned by a Native American tribe, which many online trolls calling her out for being “hypocritical” and suggesting she give her home back to Native Americans. Keep reading for more information.

Billie Eilish's 'Stolen Land' Comments At The Grammys

After saying her thanks for her 10th Grammy, Eilish turned to the audience and said to mcuh applause, "No one is illegal on stolen land."

"It's really hard to know what to say and what to do right now," she continued as the audience cheered. "I feel really hopeful in this room and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter and the people matter and... f*** ICE is all I want to say, really."

While many celebrities and fans alike championed the singer for standing up for important causes, others called her "hypocritical" for owning a home that sits on the "ancestral land" of the Native American Tongva tribe.

Social Media Reactions

Across social media platforms, particularly X, online critics called out the Grammy winner for her speech. "She's such a hypocrite!" one person wrote, and another said, "Put your mansion where your mouth is."

"She literally lives in a gated mansion on this 'stolen' land," another user wrote. "She's a hypocrite who will never have to experience the negative effects of illegal migration."

"Hollywood celebrities are the biggest hypocrites that have ever existed," one tweet reads.

Others, though, cheered for Billie and shared their appreciation for her using her platform to speak out. "Wow she is awesome and using her popularity for good," one fan wrote.

"Billie you nailed it," said another "Thank you!"

"I support her!" a final person said. "Her message and her courage of speaking her truth!"
