Blake Lively briefly put her controversial and headline-grabbing legal battle to one side on Tuesday, December 9th, to co-host a Blake Brown x Stoney Clover event in the West Village in New York City.

The Gossip Girl alum, 38, treated guests to hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and biscuit cookies – and reportedly even gave some to fans waiting outside! Guests also got the chance to try her hair and beauty products, while Stoney Clover offered attendees a bright accessory station for decorating bags, necklaces, and bracelets.

Blake Lively Slammed As 'Fake' As She Co-Hosts Event At Stoney Clover Lane

The Another Simple Favor actress looked very festive and glamorous for the event, choosing a red metallic Annina Dirndl midi dress with a corset top and flowy skirt. She paired the dress with Christian Louboutin copper-colored heels and a green necklace, green earrings, and multiple green rings by Lorraine Schwartz. Her hair was worn in defined voluminous curls.

But while the Age of Adaline star may have looked and acted the part of the perfect hostess, the internet wasn't buying it. With the ongoing legal tensions between her and It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni still unfolding, many critics said the timing and tone of the event felt off, and the supposed impromptu fan interaction outside even more so.

Several social media users even questioned whether any genuine fans were actually outside the store, saying the moment she stepped out with hot chocolates for the crowds outside was overly staged, performative, and "fake." Check out a video of some of the interaction here.

Negative Internet Reactions

"She can try but it looks so fake for me now," slammed one fan on Instagram. "Blake trying her darndest to be on her best behavior. And are those her paid 'fans' lining up outside again?" asked a second dubious person, as a third said: "Can't with her overload of fakeness now."

"What is behind this PR stunt? What is she trying to distract the public from?" questioned a fourth, as a fifth said: "I wanna know how long the line is... or short lol."

"Free hot chocolates – so desperate. Extremely ill-advised PR move," noted a sixth. "Does she expect anyone there to buy this? Wtf is she wearing for this casual hot chocolate?" asked a seventh, followed by the crying laughing emoji.

"Wow. This is so natural and coincidental! The natural gathering of cameras," wrote an eighth disgruntled IG user, followed by three eye rolling emojis. "Insufferable," slammed a ninth, as a tenth said: "I wonder how much she paid for these fake fans to stand there and pretend to adore her?"

"This is all staged. Not fooling anyone," declared an eleventh. "Paid Fans. Nobody likes her," echoed a twelfth, while others said it was "sickening," and "looks fake and desperate." "So staged and so fake," agreed another, as someone else exclaimed: "She's ridiculous! Give it up Blake!"
