An insider explained to PEOPLE: "Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission. Her family very much approves of him. He's an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys."
Shelton's proposal went over perfectly. The source continued, "Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise."
A source explained how their high profile relationship works for them: "Gwen just loves sharing her life with Blake. He gives her so many things that were missing from her life for years."
Gwen shared the news on her Instagram page, posting a pic of her and Blake with the simple caption, "Yes please."
Shelton's post was a little more detailed. He wrote, "Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020 and the rest of my life. I love you. I heard a YES!"
